SAP IBP, or Integrated Business Planning, is SAP's cloud solution for supply chain planning. Built on HANA, it supports demand planning, supply and inventory optimization, sales and operations planning, and real-time response and supply. It gives planners a connected, scenario-driven view to balance demand and supply across the network.
SAP Integrated Business Planning, known as IBP, is a cloud-based suite for supply chain planning delivered on the HANA platform. It brings together several planning disciplines — demand planning, supply planning, inventory optimization, sales and operations planning, and response and supply — in a single environment. This lets organizations align commercial forecasts, operational constraints, and financial goals in a coordinated planning process.
IBP is widely used through a familiar Microsoft Excel front end connected to the cloud engine, complemented by web-based analytics and dashboards. Its in-memory foundation supports fast what-if simulations, so planners can test scenarios and see the impact across the supply chain quickly. It is considered the strategic successor to the older SAP Advanced Planning and Optimization (APO) solution for many planning scenarios.
Because IBP is a cloud application, it must be integrated with execution systems such as S/4HANA or ECC and with data sources feeding demand and supply signals. SAP Cloud Integration and dedicated integration content typically move master and transactional data between systems. Designing and operating this integration reliably is a technical undertaking that underpins the accuracy and timeliness of the planning results.
